Hello everyone,
Welcome to my first blog post and my first venture into blogging. I hope what I share here will be of interest to some and perhaps spark discussions among those with similar passions and perspectives.
Martial arts have been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember, particularly Aikido. To me, Aikido is the mortar that binds the various martial arts together, helping to maintain a balance between the physical and the spiritual. As a traditional, non-competitive art, Aikido places great emphasis on harmony and non-violence. I believe these principles have relevance beyond Aikido and can enrich the practice of all martial arts.
As I become more familiar with maintaining this blog, I intend to explore the spiritual dimensions of martial arts in greater depth. Along the way, I will share my understanding of concepts such as Ki, the Five Elements, and the various forms of energy that many martial traditions recognise and seek to cultivate.
I welcome alternative viewpoints, questions, and thoughtful discussion. Conversations often lead us in unexpected directions, so I expect we will occasionally wander beyond the topic at hand. Together, we may explore subjects such as breathing, meditation, physical and mental well-being, and the broader philosophies that underpin martial practice.
My aim is simple: to learn, to share, and to educate. I believe that through open discussion and mutual respect, we can all deepen our understanding and continue our personal journeys of growth. Perhaps, together, we can explore the boundaries of mind and spirit and gain a greater appreciation of our place within the universe.
As this is my first step into the world of blogging, there will undoubtedly be a learning curve. It will take time to become comfortable with the platform and, more importantly, to connect with others who share similar interests and aspirations.
I am not a scholar, nor do I claim to have all the answers. However, I am the founder of Seishinryu Budo and Body Harmony, and I have spent more than fifty years teaching—or, as I prefer to say, sharing—the martial arts. Throughout my life, I have also worked as a senior youth worker and remain actively involved in a variety of community projects.
Thank you for taking the time to read my first post. I look forward to seeing where this journey leads and to sharing it with you.
With respect,
Keith

Practitioners of other arts are invited to share their views because all arts in theory have the facility to explore their roots. To me aikido offer the best and practical way while it is easier to focus of the martial and competitive aspects of alternate arts. This is not meant to be a criticism but a means to expand one's study of one's chosen art. Hopefully, these blogs will give an insight....
